Am I covered for damage to my car?

Yes.

All our car insurance cover plans are fully comprehensive. That means you’re covered for damage to your car, as well as damage to other people and their property.

So if your car is damaged in an accident, fire or theft, we’ll repair it up to its market value if we can. (Or, if you bought your car new less than a year ago, you might qualify for a new replacement. Learn more here.)

You’ll be pleased to know that:

  • While your car is getting fixed by our approved repairers, we’ll keep you on the road with a small courtesy car, so long as one is available.
  • Once it’s repaired, you can choose to have your car delivered back to your home.
  • All repairs carried out by our approved repairers are guaranteed for three years.

As always, you can find out more about your cover, as well as exclusions or limitations, in your Policy Wording. We should have emailed this document to you when you first bought your cover.

If your car can’t be fixed

We always do our best to repair your car.

But sometimes, the damage is so bad that it’s not possible to repair it to a safe standard. Or the cost of the repair would be more than what the car is worth.

In these cases, we’ll pay you what your car was worth at the time of the incident instead.

If only your glass is damaged

You're covered for damage to your car’s windows, windscreen and sunroof if you have our Prima, Prima Plus and Prima Premier car insurance. (Our only car insurance plan which doesn’t include glass damage cover is Prima Essentials.)
